With our oldest, who by the way is now 18 years old(when did that happen?LOL)I was told a month before he actually was due, that I was already one cm, and so I don't think that is always an indication. I would listen to your doctor and trust in him or her. Also, to the Nurses, they are great and are so supportive! I figured out that no matter what, and at this time, you want that baby ouuuuuuuut!!!, women have been having babies for years, and it all happens, in due time. The doctors will want to make sure the babie's lungs are mature, that is the biggest worry. However by 36 weeks, your baby will be ready and all will be well at this time or thereafter!! We will keep you in our thoughts. Good luck!!! Happy parenting..............and hang in there, those first couple of sleepless months(ok, sometimes years, lol)is a killer to your body, your husband, your marriage. To me, that was the biggest jump, a wonderful miracle, but an incredible leap into going from just husband and wife to adding to our family!!!

With my first child I was dialated at 1 cm for 2 weeks. It all depends on the person. And every pregnancy is different. But if you are anxious sex does usually start labor. I haven't heard of sperm softening the uterus. It basically just starts making the uterus contract, which makes you dialate even more. Kinda llike pelvic exams done late in pregnancy make you contract.

It could be weeks. I know that I was at 1 for 2 weeks, 2 for a week and 3 for a week before my first son came. Just be patient, it will happen. The best advice I can give is 'Enjoy your alone time now' cause you will have a new little one in a couple of weeks and things will never be the same.

At 36 weeks your baby is developed well enough to deliver. It can take a few days to dilate more or up to a week, depending on your activity level. If you don't want to deliver yet, or hope to get to 37 weeks, stay laying down as much as possible, don't walk around. No spicy foods, or warm baths. Make shower time quick. No SEX, that will immediatly begin labour, as sperm softens the uterus. Please email me if you have further questions, I just had a baby, and am up todate with everything. I had just about every issue to do with pregnancy.

I had my daughter at 35 weeks when my water broke i went right to the hospital and I was only 1 cm... but it depends on how soon the baby wants out...it could be a few hours or a few weeks or so..depends on how far you are from the hospital you should wait until your contractions are 5 mins apart then go to the hospital..if your water breaks you should go more than 24 hours without being on a IV drip....but like i said it depends on how soon the little one wants to come out! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I stayed at 1CM for a month before I had each of my kids and they were all 2 weeks early. Everyone is different so there is no correct answer to your question anyway.

well every woman is different, but I wouldn't expect to deliver like tomorrow. Your first pregnancy takes the longest to deliver. So just keep on trying to dialate. Good Luck.
