I think it is excellent that he uses his high profile and influence to change such things, he exerts considerable pressure on governments around the world with great success - I doubt that there are many of us who could say we have accomplished anywhere near as much with our own lives or abilities.
I wish there were a few more like him rather than the some of the other selfish and arrogant rock stars that exist - too many to mention I'm afraid.
And what have his critics ever done to try to improve things on the scale that he does?

Well, if you know anything about Bono little brother you'd know that besides being a rock star Bono has dedicated his entire career to causes like this. You may be too young to remember something back in the 80's called LiveAid. It was a HUGE concert where all the proceeds went to feed the starving children of Africa.
Granted Bono does'nt have Bill Gates money. Only Bill Gates has Bill Gates money. But even as you can see Bill Gates just stepped down as acting CEO of microsoft so he and his wife can continue to do their part to save the world.
Who ever is giving Bono negitive feedback is probably just ignorant to knowing just how much Bono does every single year to get rid of poverty and feed starving children. EVERY YEAR.
Before you critisize someone, do your homework first. Because at that point you just look like a dumb***.

maybe bono is right to ask the question. it could have taken us too long to wait for the question from say mandela. what is important is that a questin has been asked and so answers must be given . as i see it , it does not matter who asked but what he asked.
it is better to see people the way u want them to see u. let me ask u a questin: if u were in the position of bono will u have kept quiet? and see things go the way u don';t know?
think again maybe there was something else u wanted.

Think about it...if the wealthy of the world don't bring it up, who will? The poverty-stricken often don't have a voice because of their poverty, or because of other factors (war, oppression, lack of technological resources, isolation, etc).
And some of the negative responses I saw on that particular answer were dressing Bono down for not focusing on their own personal views--ie, focusing on poverty rather than on ending war or government corruption etc.

well bono probably does help with money support but I'm sure hes not going to give all the money he makes to Africa, he has the right to ask this question because he already does help but wants others to help too , like other rich countries

He is because of this right here. He caught your attention and made you think about it. Now you have passed that on to all the people that see your ?. And so on and so forth. It's getting people to take notice.

The important thing is not who takes takes a stand...it is that someone did take a stand. We all must ask ourselves what did we do for someone today, this week, this year?
