It does sound much better than NASA's real mission statement, which say oh so exciting stuff like, "advance human exploration, use, and development of space", doesn't it?

NASA's main mission seems to be to take people's minds off the bad job the president is doing.

Could be but we musn't forget that NASA is, after all is said and done, a profit oriented entity.

Profit oriented? LOL, then they're doing a horrible job making money and they always have. They've never been about profit.
