It appears that they are for real, but their starting pitching may have some issues. If Pedro's hip problem is more serious than we're being led believe, that will hurt the team. Also, I'm not sure if Tom Glavine can put up the same numbers in the second half as he did in the first half because of his age. I definitely see them winning the NL East, but I'm not sure how far they can go in the playoffs.

Yes!!
Why do people always ask these questions when their team has a good year...I don't get it. I didn't ask "Are The Yankees Done this year, since they are having such a bad year?" Well, the last time I checked the Yankees are only 3 games down and in 2nd place with a WINNING record...that doesn't sound like a bad year to me, and The Mets are in 1st and kicking butt in the NL East, YES THEY ARE FOR REAL!!

I admit they are much better and are a team that can compete but IF they even get to the postseason St Louis, Cincinnati, LAD, can beat them. St Louis is in a slump they can easily break out of, the Big Red Machine is back, and the Dodgers could easily be the most suprising team in baseball. So the answer is YES the Mets are for real but it are a long shot for the Series.

This is their best chance at a World Title in 20 years, and probably in the next several.

They have a good team and it's only a matter of time before things really start to fall into place. Plus they have good leadership and a good mix of old and young. Bullpen is still not reliable, though.

For the price of their payroll, they better be. Though, they are slumping right now, they should have enough veteran leadership to get them all the way into the NLCS.

Until the standing prove otherwise, they are the team to beat in the NL.
