It is quite possibly one of the most annoying things in the entire universe.

One of my favorite things to do if a co-worker is eating like that is to go over and mug them for some of it. These are greedy eaters and don't like to share. If they give you some, eat as much as you can because the sooner the food is gone, the sooner the noise will stop. If they say no, bug them for some until they get irritated. Either they will go somewhere else to eat or say something snippy, at which time you can point out that they aren't the only ones who can become exasperated with their own eating experience.

In the case of gum, a fun way to deal with it is to find some other folks who are also annoyed with it and quietly mount a jihad with management about how gum chewing in the office is unprofessional and puts a cheap face on the office's image or something like that. Get them to put the kibosh on gum chewing for some professional reason.

Not the most mature approaches, but they can sure add some color to the day, and if you're going to be exasperated anyway, might as well make it entertaining.

I'll ignore the grammatical errors...mostly because you said you were tired. (plus, if you have the problem I think you might, then I understand the distraction)
Has the sound of gum chewing/loud food eating always bothered you? You've tried to ignore it, but you just can't!
There is a condition that is very rarely heard of by those who don't suffer from it, it's called "Sensory Defensiveness". I have it, and it's a horrible problem. For most people it's a tactile problem, but it can occasionally manifest as an auditory condition.
No, you're not being a *****...not if you are sensory defensive..
.if, however, you're not sensory defensive (this has never bothered you before) then you're just being grumpy and I suggest you take a deep breath and repeat to yourself-"the day will soon end, the day will soon end". lol

It annoys me too. And not just when co-workers do it. When anybody does it. It shows a lack of manners and respect for those around them. People who do this obviously don't realize they sound like pigs when they do it.

Yes, that's annoying and rude. Proper etiquette is to chew with your mouth shut. So many people DO NOT have manners. It's really annoying. I agree. I have people in the office who burp out loud, fart, and chew loudly, smacking their lips. We had one person cutting their fingernails at their desk and another cutting toenails. You haven't seen anything yet lol.

Annoying co-workers will come & go throughout your working years. I've had my share. But you can learn something from everyone.... like patience & acceptance of the faults of others.

I suppose it could be annoying if they were trying to chop your mouth with food. Still, that can't do much damage, but I could see how it'd be really annoying, someone chopping your mouth.

Doesn't bother me. I am too busy. I have to shut things out to keep my thoughts.
Find something to do, you have to much time on your hands.
