Are we so bored that we just have to keep going further and further? Example the Exorcist scared the hell out of me when I was 12. At the same age my kids thought nothing of it. maybe its just the special effects they ar used to

Unfortunately, yes and yes.

But I'm not sure boredom is the reason. Constant over-exposure, maybe, which is not quite the same thing. Subsequent generations have little or no understanding of subtleties of horror. Today's kids probably have no appreciation of someone like Hitchcock, for example. Nor, I think, would these *Reality Show* kids truly appreciate reality, if they ever found it!

Cheer up -- what's that old saying about when your kids have kids? Something to look forward to -- or not?!

I cannot imagine how shock value will, or can even increase at this point, but as long as the network is hungry, they will keep squeezing out unethnic, amoral, and unhuman episodes.

Also, I think for as long as there are idiots dehumanizing and devaluing themselves for the sake of that $50000, $100000, $500000, or a million dollars, there will be reality TV.
