I used to really enjoy both the books and films, right up until the third film (POA) and the fifth book (OOTP). Then JK Rowling lost the plot entirely, and made the characters behave in ways that were completely out of character to their previous personalities and actions (and blamed her poor writing and plot on "hormones"), created a contrived, stereotypical SuperGirl out of the blue to suddenly become Harry's "soul mate" without any background development or reasoning, turned Hermione into a complete shrew, and decided to open HBP (sixth book) acting as if Sirius's death and the aftermath of grief Harry went through never really existed and wasn't at all a big deal.

So in short ... I used to like the series very much, and now I think it's awful. Won't be reading book 7, won't be seeing any more films and won't be lining that woman's pockets with any more money ... she already has more than God. :-\

A fun, fictional series of stories. Writing about magic one can create anything out of thin air. I love the creativity. I love how it intrigues my children. We have a common ground when we speak about stories we read together. I love being able to connect with my kids in any way & I think the series of Harry Potter is great. My kids are in a sense growing up with Harry - we started reading the first book when my oldest was 9. We also share other stories we get for Christmas, at book fairs, library. Harry Potter gets kids reading & what is wrong with that?

I think the books are very well written,
but the movies I don't like so much.

I think if you can think of them as seperate things,
you can enjoy both the books and the movies.
But most people I know - including me - can't get
over a lot of changes. But I understand how certain
things perhaps wouldn't translate well into a scene
from a movie, and movies are meant to entertain
in a different way then a book is.

Well, i haven't read the books, but i've watched all the movies. I didn't really care for the first two movies. But I think they are actually getting better as the characters grow up. The stories are getting a little more scary and dark and not as kidish. I look forward to the rest of the movies.

I only saw the first movie and I wonder why people love it. I guess it's because of all the witchcraft, no one like anything good. But in my opinion, I hate it.

I love the books! They're so interesting and they're so hard to put down! The movies aren't that bad, but I don't even remember seeing the 3rd movie . . . so I guess that's the worst one in my opinion.
