One of my most favorite songs was written by a lyricist and poet by the name of Leonard Cohen but it was performed best by a man by the name of Jeff Buckley. It is called Hallelujah. I love this song because it is NOT religious but because it uses religious refrences to explain a human condition which I believe was the purpose of all the stories in the Bible. Such as the passion and very wrong lust between King David and the very married Bathsheba when "He saw her bathing on the roof, her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya."
It is a very secular song, a very deep and etheral, intimate and expressive, emotional song that tears your heart out and stomps on it while telling it "I love you."
My favorite artists (If you mean paint and ink and sculpture, not sure from how you posed your question?) are Michael Parkes and Dale Chihully. I love Michael Parkes because his images of women are firece and delicate at the same time. I think he captures what a woman is in all of his paintings and being a woman, I know that is not an easy thing to do in any medium. His paintings are strong and otherworldly and remind us that there is something more than what ends at the tips of our noses. I love Dale Chihully because anyone who can take all of the elements in life and take them, change them and play God with them in such a way and re birth them into something luminescent and otherworldly is a genius!
My favorite kind of music is modern alternative and rock. I love things that have something to say, something with weight to it. That is why I dislike rap so much. It is self indulgent and decadent on a level that shows no respect for the world, for human life, for anythig other than self. I like artists that speak to the heart and soul, deliver their talent in such a way that it is artistic and entertaining and at the same time relevent to something.
Right now I like; Taking back Sunday, Lacuna Coil, AFI, and Flyleaf and Fall out boy because the lyrics are incredible and complex and the music is complemantary and that is not an easy thing to do Most things along those lines.
I will always love Incubus because they are deep and meaningfull and identify with modern life and problems.
K.T. Tunstall is the biggest breath of fresh air in a long long time!
I love Tori Amos...She is my all time favorite, she is a genius, an icon, a fantastic singer, songwriter, musician, performer. She is beautiful, captivating, and always...always has something to say that could change or at least challenge the way we think and feel about the lives we lead and how we experience life.
I also love Maria Callas and Mario Lanza... Need I say anything to explain why? Ultimate Diva Divine extrordinere!

As for the songs, they caught my attention, thats all.
The bands I like because of the music. Aiden I found becuase they opened for HIM at a concert and I Was blown away by them. Also, wiL from Aiden made a speech during the concert that really got to me. HIM I fell in love with because of the music, and soon after realized how hot the lead singer was xD

My favorite artists are Josh Groban, Charlotte Church, Amici Forever and Il Divo. I like opera, classical, and easy listening. I'm really into the new type of music called popera. My favorite songs are pretty much anything opera.
