OK so maybe Michael Moore is way weird and all, but the question he poses in Farenheit 911 has NOT been answered yet at least to my satisfaction. Why did we allow family members of the alleged mastermind to LEAVE US SOIL? Wouldn't logic (sorry Spok) dictate that they would be LEVERAGE to use to capture UBL? (Osama, Usama, spelling changes as often as their holy book name does) Kuran, Koran, Queran, Qoran, whatever, the fact remains, UBL is still loose, the WMD may or may not have existed, and IRAQ did not invade the USA. Am I missing something here? There are plenty of despotic potentate dictators who do bad stuff to their people. Do we only 'care' about the ones with OIL? For my money we could have saved more lives in SUDAN.

Where to begin?
First off, Sudan. We've already tried the humanitarian approach. Remember Somalia in 93? We've spent enough years putting the world first and it's only served to bite us in the backside.
No, we don't only care about those nations with oil. Iraq's oil is inconsequential to us. If we really cared about oil we would have forced Hugo out of office a long time ago as Venezuala feeds us more oil than Iraq ever could.
Saddam was a nutbag, plain and simple and a lot more people thought he had WMD's since long before Bush ever came into office. Clinton, Albright, Pelosi et al all said Saddam had WMD's long before Bush came into the picture.
As for why they were allowed to leave thing, Moore of course lies by not telling the truth.
The Bin Ladens were first interviewed by the FBI and were allowed to leave the country only AFTER the skies were cleared for air travel again.
"WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 — In the first days after the terror attacks on New York and Washington, Saudi Arabia supervised the urgent evacuation of 24 members of Osama bin Laden's extended family from the United States, fearing that they might be subjected to violence.
In his first interview since the attacks, Saudi Ambassador Bandar bin Sultan, also said that private planes carrying the kingdom's deputy defense minister and the governor of Mecca, both members of the royal family, were grounded and initially caught up in the F.B.I. dragnet. Both planes, one jumbo jet carrying 100 family members, and the other 40, were eventually allowed to leave when airports reopened and passports were checked.
Mr. bin Laden is estranged from his family. One of his two brothers in the United States called the Saudi Embassy frantically looking for protection, the ambassador said. The brother was sent to a room in the Watergate Hotel and told not to open the door.
Most of Mr. bin Laden's relatives were attending high school and college. They are among the 4,000 Saudi students in the United States. King Fahd, the ailing Saudi ruler, sent an urgent message to his embassy here saying there were "bin Laden children all over America" and ordered, "Take measures to protect the innocents," the ambassador said.
The young members of the bin Laden clan were driven or flown under F.B.I. supervision to a secret assembly point in Texas and then to Washington from where they left the country on a private charter plane when airports reopened three days after the attacks. Many were terrified, fearing they could be "lynched," after hearing news reports of sporadic violence against Muslims and Arab-Americans."

As for the whole "close ties" between the familes, this is a red herring. Both families are in oil. There are not a whole lot of families in the oil business so it makes sense that they would have worked together.
All of these connections are insanely stupid and distracting. Do you know that after 9/11 I was told that ou Founding Fathers knew of these attacks! Apparently, by folding the $20 bill a certain way you ended up with a rather good reproduction of the burning towers. How interesting save for the tiny fact that the current $20 bill we use today was not around in 1776.
Hindsight is always 20/20 and we can see connections that simply are not there because we need an answer. This is where Michael Moore (that fat. pudgy, misguiding, self-adsorbed, pompous bastard) excels.
He cares little for the people who's live he tramples on. He lied to us in BFC. He lied to us in Fake 9/11.
The man is a consumate liar who will do whatever is needed to get his version of the truth across and to hell with the ramifications.

Not a mystery.
There are very close ties between the Bush and Bin Laden Families.
Besides Sudai Arabia ran commercials inthe US reminding us they own 8% of our country through investment.
