Just to end all of the myths that are apparently out there regarding blockbuster online...

More Movies: Netflix has around 59,000, while BO has around 56,000. Whether it's TV shows, old movies, or obscure documentaries, both services have them. The way that netflix is able to bolster their numbers is through the foreign film market where they get the "B" movies from India's Bollywood. One report noted that they still have 7,000 titles that have been rented fewer than 5 times TOTAL across the country, while BO has 1,200 such titles.

Throttling: Netflix does it and is currently in litigation over it. BO doesn't. Throttling is taking those customers who rent less and sending their movies out ahead of those who rent more. This works two-fold: they can make more profit off those who rent a lot by limiting the postage they have to spend on them, while those who rent less won't realize that they aren't getting their money's worth because they get their movies quicker.

Costs: Both charge the same prices. Both have a free month offer. The only difference is the free in-store rental coupon that BO sends out every week. This coupon can be used on the hottest titles, which both Netflix and BO have trouble getting out to everyone in a timely manner.

I would definitely, definitely choose Netflix. I'm a film student and have been a member of Netflix for more than a year and it is DEFINITELY the best movie-renting choice I have ever made!

Netflix has pretty much everyone movie released on DVD - anything you can think of. They are also not limited to movies, they also have documentaries, some music DVDs, and television shows. Blockbuster has all the typical movies, but you can seriously get ANYTHING on Netflix.

Netflix also is faster, from what I hear from my friends who have the Blockbuster deal. I usually get my movies from Netflix just one or two days after I send my last movies back - and you can choose to keep as many movies out as you want. I believe the cheapest deal is the pretty straight forward one movie at a time, but its not much more expensive to rent up to five dvds, I believe.

I am a very, very happy Netflix user and I really hope you choose that site! Its amazing.

Blockbuster is my fav. I got in on it when it was cheaper. It was 14.99 for 3 movies at a time and plus they give you 2 free coupons a month to rent a video game or new movie at the store. They have also given me 3 coupons for free used dvds at the store too. If you rent more than 3 movies a month it is better to go with blockbuster online. They also have it worked out with the post office to scan your returned dvds and send new ones out faster.

Blockbuster Online is by far the better choice. Netflix has been getting into trouble for throttling. Blockbuster hasn't. Netflix has no stores to get rentals. Blockbuster offers a free in-store rental every week. Prices are the same. Blockbuster has better customer service. The choice is easy.

Netflix is in so much legal trouble right now over their practices, the financial analyst Holder or Bolder or whatever his name is for the WSJ said to "ride the wave now but bail out within 3 months".
