Depending on your aim - better for what??
And, don't forget, there are differences between regions that easily are bigger than between the average situation of both countries.

I think they both are about the same. I enjoyed visiting both. Austria was different from Germany. Austria is into diamonds. They have a factory there you could go to and then the swiss apls arent far away. So there are lots to do in both places.

Austria,I had a boy friend for 7 yrs he was from Germany and just looking for a woman to take care of him so he could sit around and do nothing, the this jerk abused me and my credit after the relationship was over,I ended it and he kept harassing me and my family,I think Germans expect a free ride from Americans and they want us to feel sorry for them because of Hitler's actions,I'm sure some are good people,I have yet to meet one. Besides Austria is beautiful.

In Austria you have only the Alps.
In Germany we have the Alps
and the North-Sea
and the Baltic-Sea. ;-)

To be honest there really isn't a difference. My favorite restaraunt in Europe is in Salzburg, but my favorite city is Munich. My favorite Gasthaus is in Mondsee, but my favorite camping spot is in the black forest. Plus they both speak the same language! Not really a difference.
