I don't know. When she started out she didn't dress so nasty and sold just as many Cd's. It seems like the larger her body gets, the more she wants to share it. I have always thought she had a beautiful voice but now I can't stand to look at her. She has become another bad example for our young girls to watch.

Some think she dresses slutty, others say she dresses provocatively, others still say she’s just being herself and having fun.

Like you when singers, specifically female singers, resort to dressing as you said "slutty" and presenting a less than wholesome appearance and demeanor does take focus from the talent and onto simply how she looks.

I felt frustrated when Christine Aguilera went through her slutty phase. The lady is an amazing talent and did not need to resort to such cheap and crass theatrics. Thankfully, she grew up, got married, settled down and put her rebelliousness behind her and is now focusing on her singing.

Britney Spears - well that's completely different, since her singing talent in all seriousness isn't the greatest she had to go on to market her best skill... her body and the tawdry tart image. That's all Britney had to offer, but she still managed to make it work big time for her. It still works for her why else would we still be reading, watching and hearing about a has been, married, pregnant and white trashy wannabe who hasn't had a record out in some time?

Back to Mariah - she is a truly talented and gifted singer but she's also incredibly beautiful with, frankly, an incredibly hot body. I think the look and the sound go hand in hand in her case... she looks like she sounds. Also keep in mind her outfits are very stylish and for the most part tasteful. For me, Mariah is a treat for the ears and the eyes.

and the fact that she used to be a more conservative type... and then went out for a while. When she came back, she had to have something new about her... thus the slutty clothes and also the music as well. If you will notice, the videos she used to make were classy most of the time and good. Now, they most likely have her in some kinda slutty outfit, and some (dont be offended) black man. The reason I say about the man was because she also has changed her tempo on the music over time as well. She used to play things like butterfly, and hero. Now we have things like shake it off and say something... I definitely liked her old stuff better.

mariah is both talented and beautiful. there is no reason she should not be able to show both. she has a voice that is almost unequalled in range. she was trained to sing correctly by her mother, an opera singer. she started to imitate her mother's singing at the age of two. she worked hard for four years, waitressing in the evening, then writing and recording songs all night. she worked as a backup singer before she got her big break. she has paid her dues and deserves some respect. she founded her own charity so kids could go to summer camp.

I think when she was married she wasn't allowed to wear skimpy clothes and she rebeled from that when she and her husband got divorced, she got married too young. Maybe she thinks she will sell more records that way but people will just see her a tart! I like mariah carey's songs and her voice is amazing but I dont like her as a person she comes across as a diva! such a shame

Ya got me tuts, However, i think it is becasue she feels that in order to keep up with everyone she has to show off her body. the realiaty is this, before people new that her breast had gained a lot of tussie, people recognized her vioce. Many thought that she was African American, until her first video came out.
