Llamas can swim if they need to, but they prefer not to. The countries that they originate from do not have a lot of water. On hot days some llamas do like to stand in water to cool off, and some enjoy a sprinkler, but most of them will avoid swimming in deep water if they can.

All animals have a first instinct when they hit the water and start to sink. The llama will start to freak out and flap it's limbs all over the place, making it LOOK like it's swimming. It's much like doggy-paddling. The dogs just try to stay on top of the water. I DO NOT RECOMEND EXPERIMENTING WITH LLAMAS. I don't know why jsut dont.

Yes they can. They generally like to take a few laps around the pool in the mornings, and maybe a nice jacuzzi treatment in the evenings.
