A general knowledge test wouldn't hurt, but since we are a democracy we can't stop people from voting just because they are stupid.

At the beginning of our nations history the general public did not vote directly for the President or Senators. The legislator of each State chose the President and each Senator. It was felt that these offices were too important to allow the general public to vote on directly. Now, when these offices are far more important, we have people that couldn't even name their own congressman vote directly for President and Senator. I think it would be a good idea if we go back to the old way.

Great question!!! My inclination is to want a test, but I am concerned about unanticipated side effects. So I'll opt for a) positive identification of citizenship, b) eliminate the Department of Education, so we increase the level of general knowledge.

Even though I don't understand how such an idiot got elected I would still stand by the traditional voting system. Stupid people still have a right to vote, unfortunately they elected one of their peers.
