i'm from ohio too, i say pop. i could never see myself saying soda, it's just not right. i also say hey y'all and yee haw!

I think you will find different areas of the county use pop and/or soda. If a person was raised in my town, Springfield Mo. it's pop. from St.Louis it's soda. This is a trend across the country. larger city's use soda and smaller one under 100,000 use pop. Now also the areas east and west use soda. Now go in and re-do your question on population and Midwest, East, West, North or South. You will get a really good responses. Even worth knowing in reference to language development.

I am from S. Calif. and I say soda. It's really an east coast - west coast thing. I have lived on the east and most there say pop. most on the west say soda

Originally from Chicago..and it's called "pop".
Now live in Tulsa...and any dark-colored pop is called either
a "soda" or a "coke". All you need to do is specify either diet or not.
