I have Barley Straw in my pond to help keep it from being infested with Algae buildup (loom). The problem is i notice that the barley straw ironically makes my pond turn a slight green. I decided to add a tad of chlorine into the water and now it is all cleared up. Can someone tell me, does the chlorine mix damage the barley straw's effect on preventing algae from forming and i will have to replace the barley straw sooner?

The good news, chlorine will help kill the algae. The bad news, chlorine will help kill the barley straw.
