Isn't it interesting that we all seem to have a favorite team, but for many different reasons. How did you start following the Hurricanes? How did this guy become a Longhorns fan or that guy become a Buckeye?
I think that, first of all, if you went to a particular Div. I-A school, then you have a claim to root for that team. If you didn't attend a Div. I-A school, then you have three choices. (A) Choose the school that your parents or grandparents root for, (B) choose a school near you, or (C) choose a school that you think is good (be careful, though, as this can be viewed as band-wagoning).
As for me, I happened to attend the school that was near me growing up, and my grandfather went there, and I thought that they were/are good. So the easy choice for me is the Georgia Bulldogs. Even though I live far from the Peach State these days, I still bleed Red and Black for my Dawgs.
