Because on paper - they are great. They just can't win when they have to.

everyone picks them because they have the best depth chart... they have a future HOF Qb along with the best WR core and a defense that always makes plays... everyone also always doubts the pats can make the run again... so they dont pick them. The reason the colts fall is because the dont have the playoff attitude... they are a team built to win alot of games in a season, but not enough in the playoffs, the pats and steelers on the other hand are teams that are bulit to do good in the season and excell in the postseason. The pats have the right attitude and they know they will beat you if they play their football, which they almost always do. It also helps they have one of the best coaches. Tom Brady is also your protyto type playoff QB. And one other thing before I drag on too long, the colts defense never plays like they should in the postseason, and every year people say that the defense improves, and in the regular season it does, but in the postseason not so much.

The Colts had the receviers, they had the Running Back, They have the best regular season QB by stats(although any half decent QB can look great on that team.) The problem is that Manning can't do the job in a big game. Poster boy of the NFL can't make it to the Superbowl.
Would you people stop running down Dan Marino. Peyton Manning may get the records but he won't be another Dan Marino. Name 3 receivers that Marino had. That's my point. People don't remember his WRs because they were consitant all stars. Manning is surrounded by talent, Marino wasn't. If Marino had been on a team like the Colts as far as talent hey proably would have a few rings.

The Colts every year get picked because they seem to be one of the few teams that is constantly improving. Even after losing the Edge, they still have Rhodes in the backfield and with Peyton in place, you always have a shot to win. With Dwight Freeney scaring the hell out whichever quarterback is on the other side of the ball, their defense has risen to almost as high a level as the offense.
Though I'm not saying the Colts WILL win the Super Bowl (or even get there), they are a formidable enough team to consider - year in and year out.

Well I haven't picked the colts at all until this year. Now that I know their defense can actually play and shows up to games, they actually have a realistic chance at getting there. Without Edge though they're going to need somebody to fill in some big shoes. If it's not the Colts, I'm gonna have to go with Denver for the AFC.
But I'm gonna say Carolina wins it ;) I hope...if they have to play Indy or Denver, they're in for a tough game indeed.

Its obviously because of Peyton Manning. He has mind boggling career numbers and is due for a super bowl. Plus they have been improving their defense every year under dungy and also, had, one of the best running backs in the NFL to go along with it. They are also in a pretty weak division and always should be in the playoffs, and if you get in, anyone can win on any given sunday

i imagine they ought to deliver bill "Smile, you're on Candid digital camera" Belichik some 19-0 equipment. perhaps they could recycle the Pats 2007 unsellable merchandise. i'm, by using no skill, a Colts fan, yet i'd root for them over that dishonest ex-Wolverine (6 in a row, M!ch*g@n followers! Ann Arbor=North Columbus) and his crew any day of the season (case in factor, November 15).

The Colts are an awesome team, but for some reason they play with their hands over their throats in the playoffs.

Mainly because of their high powered offense. Doesn't make any sense, because everyone knows defense wins championships. I can understand why last year everyone thought it was their year. They beat New England and Pittsburgh during the regular season, and they finally had a decent defense. I think last year was their best shot at the super bowl.
