Yes I know how to spell bono.
You would never see him on a park bench drinking special brew.
Pephaps he should live in a council flat & donate all of his money to charity?

I mean, how much did the sunglasses he wears cost, think about that.
And I am sure the patron saint of charity is Vincent de Paul, I looked it up.

Now don't get me wrong I think it is great that he uses his position to influence others.

I don't beleive people should be expected to give away all they earn just because they are wealthy and may have worked hard for it.
What I do think it wrong is a celebrity using their status to tell us we should be giving more and doing more to help the less fortunate - especially when they are driving in big cars and holding concerts in 3rd World countries and charging full ticket prices.
There is only so much the average person and government can do. Unfortunately we do not have endless supplies of money or resources and people demanding other countries dig deeper doesn't help.
I would have more respect for people like Bono and Bob Geldoff if I saw them working for the VSO or other charible agency. Actually getting their hands dirty and doing what hundreds or other charity workers do.

It's usually the way a wealthy celebrity will get the hard up public to donate to charities and then take the applause.
What happened to DJ Chris Evans and the money he promised to give away to charity?
The sad reality is you need poverty otherwise economises will collapse.

Stupid ignorant question - the guy does more with his life than you ever will.
Do you just try to knock people because they stand up for something thats a real issue for all of us? The guy gives up lots of his time and wealth to the causes he believes in - rather than being some waster of a rockstar like so many others.
If you dont think this is a real issue for everyone then you are even more ignorant than your question suggests

I don't think that if fair. he wasn't born rich, he has worked his **** off to make his money and he does give lots of it to charity, why shouldn't he enjoy his hard earned wealth? He has raised millions of pounds for 3rd world countries and he is constantly out there raising awareness and he has made a big difference.

He doesn't want to have a bunch of people depending in our charity. We already have a bunch of people in our streets depending on our charity and they don't make a decent living. He wants that governments change their trading policies and make it able for people living in extreme poverty to make a living, he wants them to be able to feed themselves, to work and make enough money to support their families and not die becuase they have not eaten in weeks. Bono is trying to change the way trade works in our world. And he is REALLy trying so i think we should all give him a break, because none of us is trying as hard as he is.

The thing is poverty is so big that even if Bono (or even Bill Gates) donates all his money to charity, poverty would still be there. It takes more than just one person to stop poverty.

good answer, its so easy to ask questions like that, then get into your brand new prestige car, drive up your long drive way of your massive house, close the door and forget
but at least he is doing something there are a lot of people like him who do nothing to help mankind.

Do you honestly not believe that he gives more than his fair share for charity? And not just in monetary value!

Why doesn't he give a concert in a 3rd world country for free- or for a very low price?
