do you have windows media player or nero?
if you have windows media player, then there's a simple "Rip" button there... it will rip it in WMA format, however if you want mp3 it's really simple... just go to Tools==>Options==>Rip Music and change the thingy to mp3

I quite like musicmatch jukebox, which you can download for free and has a ripping facility.
Or you could use Windows media player - watch for the rather stupid digital rights management question, of course you're going to want to play them on other machines/devices at some point.
Or you could try www.zdnet.co.uk and use the downloads option to find a ripper of your own preference - there are lots of options here.

My favourite cd ripper is CDEX. It works well and is completely free.
