Triniwarrior - Ummmmmmmhhhh.... I don't!
I am a sports fanatic, can usually watch anything from auto racing to hockey to basketball and the NFL, to competitive skydiving and trick bicycling. SOCCER (how dare you call yourself football!) is in another class of boring.

Also, please respond to Parrt II of question. The out of control fans, the riots, the stadium collapses, etc.

Thanks Nick for an interesting suggestion. Maybe this year's Cup is not a good example of SOCCER at it best.

Last detail: Do you really believe that the Superbowl, NBA finals and Indy 500 are NOT watched by fans all over the world? PLEASE.

Some previous World cups have been exiting, plus some other tournaments recently have been exiting so people honestly expected an interesting World Cup.
No one expected that it will be a mix of male modeling show, cheating contest and penalty shoot out competition with a very little football plaid..

And don't pay attention to those yuppie kids who tell you this World cup is not boring-believe me it frigging is most boring and low class world cup in a football history. Those who think otherwise are just pretentious. Someone told them that soccer is cool, and they pretend to like it.

Very sad outcome. However if you want to see some really interesting football check some Premiership games, or Champions league or Spanish league or even Copa Libetadores. Those great games usually and much more exiting hen this celebrity show..

Talking about 'soccer', I guess you're American.
Assuming this, I share your attitude in opposite way (Baseball - they run from pillow to pillow; Basket - a lot of jumps, shoots, but I can't understand what a defender can do. Defenders don't move!!!; Helmeted-rugby you call Football (ugh!) - this game is only stop'n'go, nearly all players are replaced, they shout, launch the ball, everyone clashing the other - MOST boring awarded in my rankings)
I guess it's an issue, if the first sport you see playing is football (let's call it soccer, anyway, in Italy we call it 'calcio' = 'kick' ;-)), there are many chances you will like soccer. And if - as in Italy - soccer is quite the ONLY sport you see playing, you watch on TV, chances increase. Our best selling newspaper is a sport one, and has 20 and more pages soccer-filled out of 30...
Of course, soccer is an highly tactical game. I'm sure to have seen some match you actually claim as boring... let's try... France-Spain? Germany-Argentina? Italy-Germany? those were between my best match in this WC... lot of tactical stuff...
However, this is WC and it's played every 4 years. You can't play in suicidal tactics as mindless attacking with 4 forwards... so sometimes a match is definitively not entertaining as other ending with impressive scores. But Germany-Argentina 1-1 was so far better than Argentina SRC 6-0.
Maybe if I would understand something more on baseball I could like it...

Fans are hot and THEY rules. No fans, no WC. No fans, no team sports...

there are retards everywhere - soccer was just the reason of the day. There was actually another story I saw today about this what's funny is that a bunch of christians killed the guy for not wanting to watch the gospel hour instead of the game. God must be so proud.

The game may be boring, the fans may be out of control, but the World Cup soccer is the only international sporting event that was able to bring about a truce in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. And however temporary that may be, it tells you something of its appeal to humanity as something that we all share in common despite our differences in color, class or creed. Besides, I'd rather see World Cup coverages on the front page instead of the usual bombing or terrorist attack in some parts of the world.

Are you American? It's not boring to watch. This game is life for people, it's even a religion for some. When you are born into a football loving family, it's automatically in your blood. The fans are the best part of the game. This is what gives the players the motivation.

This is the sport that the fans from everywhere are passionate about. It's not like the Super Bowl or any other sporting events which are just being watched in a single area of the world. Everyone should have enough of a sense of patriotism to support their country if it qualifies.

Kids in Canada grew up with Hockey and many will live and die for hockey, Kids in the US will live and die for baseball or football if they are white and if they are black most likely basketball and football. Kids in the Islands, England, Brazil etc. grow up with Soccer and Cricket and that is what they will live and breathe. It all has to do with the way you were cultured added in with your preference as you get older. Perhaps you don't understand the game and you prefer to hate it than understand it. Perhaps it is not your thing and that is alright, because there are plenty people who love the game. That's life - different strokes for different folks.

You must be from Mars or you must be an American, either way you need to get a life. How can you say that the biggest tournament in the world is boring?

Stop with the american thing. I'm american and I'm in love with soccer. I don't understand why more people don't like it. If you truely watch the whole game you would become just as emotional as the fans.
