I grew up in Wisconsin Dells, now I live in Idaho. It has grown a lot since I was a kid, but the classic attractions are still there. Make sure you take an Upper Dells Boat ride, It is the best thing in town in my opinion. You'll forget you're in a tourist town while you're out on the river. If you have a chance to leave the kids for a night, check out the Showboat Saloon downtown, The Swing Crew plays a couple of times a week, really fun band.

As far as a budget goes, there are tons of cheap motels in the area. Just look for one that doesn't have an indoor waterpark and you will pay half as much. Lot's of camping too. Check the state parks in the area, they are about 10 bucks a night. (Mirror Lake, Devil's Lake, and Rocky Arbor state parks.)

The Dells is a lot of fun -- and perfect for your 7 and 8 year old kids. It has gotten a little expensive, but you can definitely do the Dells on a $1,000 budget. Noahs Ark is "America's Largest Waterpark" -- and is tons of fun. There are also tons of other shows and museums you can check out. Really depends on what you're looking for. There are some hotels/resorts that have water parks within -- and admission is included in the room price (i've stayed one before). You could do that -- and then spend other money on water shows, etc.

Check the site below -- there is also a coupon link on the website.

I think the Dells sounds great I live only a few hours from there and have never been there! There are nature trails and the water park, lots of things to do! Even camping. How are you getting there? A plane ride and other transportation could eat up that $1000.

That position gave me a headache. Who likes to bypass to a waterpark contained in the course of a huge vehicle parking zone? you may want to attempt.a inn like tremendous Wolf with a waterpark rather and do not undertaking downtown.
