This is a really good question but I don't know the answer. Some people say baseball but I don't believe that one because it isn't played anywhere close to where I live. On my side of the world, it's mostly popular in America. I do love football and cricket, they're my favourite, both are very popular here!

I think Formula 1 is number two in terms of worldwide attendance and money involved. You could broaden it and simply say autosports and I think that would likely be the case since people race cars everywhere. Most other sports have a strong regional emphasis, such as baseball (rounders to the Brits), American football, or cricket.

You might also be able to make a case for the track and field events like running, or other Olympic sports such as swimming. Bicycling?

Most likely Baseball. Basketball is probably 3rd. I say this because they recently had a World Cup of Baseball. Basketball isn't nearly as big. American football is probably last. I say that because only people in America play that.

non of the french or Spanish speaking countries play cricket. so, no. the world's second favorite sport is swimming. unless you only count swimming in a pool. 'cause everybody every goes or have gone swimming. they may not know how to swim but they've done it --- in a lake, the ocean, a pond, the river, a stream, a creek or in their bathtub.

It all depends on the countries. Rugby is very popular in Australia, UK and France.

If I understand, football means baseball in the States and in Europe, football = soccer! Quite confusing if you ask me.
