All downloads must be on-line as CD-Rom malfunctioning. Tried BIOS reset, but still not working. May have hardware problem, but, if so, why will tray play DVDs and the new audio/video CDs? There are approx. 2 billion people out there who are smarter than this old guy, so .......give me some help!! Or suggestion as to best place for repair/replacement.

Easiest answer is not so easy to say. It may be that you have the CD/DVD drive set to only play dvd's. goto my computer and right click on this drive click properties and see if anything is clicked to keep you from accessing this drive. I would say $30.00 at a local pc repair shop would be worth it and sometimes they will do it for free. Just be nice and shoot the sh it with em. Good Luck
