why is it that throughout american history black people have created a certain pop culture (music, style, fashion, lingo dance...etc..) in our society and were hated and banned at first for their creativity but when white people finally find out, they exploit it and try to copy and market it?
since the days of elvis (who, by the way stole his singing and dancing styles from poor, old black blues singers who created it and never got paid or respect)...and now elvis is considered the king of rock & roll.
now it's a hip hop world.
back in the 70's when hip hop started, white people were saying "turn off that disco". or that "ni**er" music...just like back in the 50's
now you get little white kids dressing, walking, dancing, and talking like so called "ni**ers.
....some even calling themselves "ni**a" but not knowing one single black person.....lol
twice i heard guys who were from europe say that
they wish they were born in the hood..lol
by the way, im not racist

You are on point, but unfortunately, it will take more than a question posed to this site to bring about acceptance and equality.

I don't know, I wouldn't say it's a "hip hop" world since Rock is pretty popular out there too--I guess your perspective on pop culture just differs depending on who you hang around.
But you know what, I actually do like it that the white kids are listening to the black kids' music (to put things so "black and white"). I wish it would happen more often, and I wish we could see more coloured people doing rock music, or say a black woman doing country. Music is so racially divisive, so when I see everyone influencing each other musically, I like to think that we're moving ahead in this world.

Ya know, you have a point. Seems like all cultures are getting recognition now. You have the Japanese with animé, Indian music has influenced a lot of mainstream music, and the latino influence has most certainly been spreading like wildfire. I think it's been a good thing to embrace the various cultures in some way, shape, or form.

It's because younger generations began growing up on that style of music and liking it. I've been listening to it since the 80's and I'm sitting in the middle of the hood right now actually. Doesn't make a difference if you're the richest person in the city, what you like is what you like.

Well, good question! As a white chick (except I'm actually kind of brown), I have to say that now that you mention this, you are right! If different cultures try to take credit for and imitate the african american culture I would say it is a great compliment to that culture that so many wish to be a part of it!

First, there is a forum for everything, and this is not the forum for this kind of rhetoric.
Secondly, call yourself whatever you will, but I call you a racist.
Thirdly, this doesn't merit an answer.
Finally, I don't appreciate that euphemism tossed around by ANYBODY, Black or White. I particularly resent it being used by someone just trying to get attention or to further fuel our society's racial problems.

I am offended by the n word so please don't say it. That word does not necessarily refer to a black person it means an ignorant person. That is just the way I think. But people are always going to copy off someone else's stuff and trying to make it their own.

Since blacks were looked upon as a primitive culture, they somehow could influence and "pollute" the white race and bring them down to the "Jungle mentality"
Which is easier, destroy a race or co-opt the culture?

GOD, CHILL OUT. People can do whatever they want. That might just mean that White People have the will power to exploit it as ****** did not have at the time.

White people are fullish. They only do things for themselves...they knew that the blacks had something going for them,so the whites tried to take it all away from them.It comes from pride.
