You are not going to believe it, buts they do in fact bark when in the boat having been caught. It is a fish, but some types lay eggs and others (the Spurdog) lays young with a yoke sack. They do not generally have bones, but a grizzle type backbone. The best sporting fish of the species is the Tope, which can swim at phenomenal speeds. Others: Smoothhound, Huss, which is sold in some fish shops in GB as 'Rock Salmon', or 'Rock Eel', ...........

Not sure, but dogfish, and catsharks which used to be called dogfish, are both quite small types of shark, and fairly placid as sharks go. Also some catsharks such as Scyliorhinus Canicula - Smaller Spotted Catshark/Dogfish, have big dark eyes, much bigger in relation to the body size than sharks normally do, they look very cute. Check out:

and do the google search for Scyliorhinus Canicula

it is a fish from family scillidae, order squalidae , but true it isn`t a dog. It could get this by its` smelling capabilities or resemblance of a sleeping dog...
Somewhere they call it catfish also, bull huss, canicula etc
The most common in european waters is scillyorchynus canicula

Because it is mainly a scavenger and living off of scraps mainly, also given the name Rock Salmon to be more appealing for food sales.
It is also part of the Catshark family
