Wow...the truth in my eyes is this....this will continue due to many factors. There are serial killers, hired killers and domestic killers, the law catches some and others are illusive or money for silence is offered, or threats to silence any witnesses. There are soooo many evil hearted people in the world that the only positive change to be made is with yourself if you are not evil. Live and let live, help when you can...and pray none of those evil people ever get close enough to you or your loved ones . If you ever witness a crime and you have the bravery and passion to turn them in, I believe you will be rewarded in some divine manner. However the threat of a friend or associate of whoever you turned in comming after you is great nowdays and in turn deters alot of common people from ever "snitching". I guess you just have to do what feels right to you and no one can make that decision for you.

The work "snitch" is such a derogatory term. It doesn't even imply "goodness" at all - now does it? What have we been told, even as very young people - "Don't tattle!" To "tattle", to be an "informer" does not lend to one being in a "excellent" situation. One seems as if they are a "traitor", or whatever, huh? Unfortunately - I believe this to be true: "If one is going to kill - one is going to do so with impunity, whether one gets "snitched" on (beforehand), or not!" However, if there is "snitching" going on to actually help prevent indiscreet murder, well, I say "more power" to the "snitcher"! To answer your question: The act of "snitching" will have to be made less offensive, some way or another. Perhaps if a reward is given for "snitching" then it may become a better thing to do - instead of doing "nothing"!

Somebody needs to put some money into getting cameras into high-crime areas: intersections, building tops, towers, street-fronts - everywhere.

People cannot be expected to sacrifice their lives to solve this problem. That is too high a price.

In better resourced areas many crimes are solved by accidental camera capture - bank buildings, convenience stores, gas stations...we have the technology - money and staffing is preventing it's use.

The people of the neighborhoods in our country need to "step up" and speak out when they see or hear something that they KNOW is wrong. In Oakland, a, whole neighborhoods are "taking back" what is theirs. People have to work together - not just be out for themselves!

We need to get the guns out of our homes. They make the wrong choice far too easy to make in a dangerous situation.

Next, we need to improve acess drug treatment programs. If we can clean people up and give them options to better themselves (jobs, housing, a leg up) we'll prevent more drug abuse (and drug related crimes) than we ever could by just busting smugglers and putting addicts in jail.

The problem seems to be that people who know something or see something are afraid of getting murdered themselves for speaking up. People have to know that they can give information ANONOMOUSLY and if we want killing to stop we have to be brave and step up.

Jamie speaks the truth but the one thing we SHOULD do is set aside our fears and speak up. If we fear to lose our lives then we have already lost them. Silence is what criminals count on.
