SO if Americans are religious did Jesus and the disciples have forks and knife??I don't recall reading in the bible that GOD blessed us with forks and knives. Look not ALL people eat with their hands it depends on the person not just Americans or any other countries, it is done all over the world. The Question is WHY DO YOU eat with your fingers because I know that there has been a time when YOU have eaten with your fingers and you cant say that you have NEVER done it. Good luck and god bless ya

Americans are not necessarily that religoius. True, we have the freedom of religion, and although the most followed religion of the US is Christianity, the world press and media, and then idiotic President tout Christianity as the best thing ever. Even if an American is religious, they may follow Islam, Unitarianism, Scientology, Judaism, etc., and don't necessarily believe in only one God, or God at all. Fast food is supposed to be fast, and therefore elimates the need for utensils. Many home meals are eaten with knife and fork, so I suppose it depends on what the host is serving. Howeber presumptuous you are of American's eating habits, you must remember that nearly the whole of Africa and India, as well as China and other countries do not use utensils at all. Soup is sipped, rice and sushi are eaten with Chopsticks, Indian dishes and African dishes are eaten out of bowls with hands, etc. So do a little more research, and you will find that those Americans are more a melting pot of world cultures, rather than the hand-to-mouth eaters.

Some food was made to be eaten with your fingers. And God didn't bless us with a knife and fork. You generalize too much. Not EVERYONE is the same. America is like soup. There are a whole LOT of different kind of people in this country. That's what makes it great. From different countries and places all over the world. They don't ALL eat with their hands.

How does being religious have anything to do with eating with fingers??? When mankind first existed, there were no forks or knives; all we had was just two hands and 10 fingers. So, I can also argue that God blessed mankind with 2 hands and 10 fingers; why can't we use our fingers??

First off, God didn't invent the knife and fork, man did. God has nothing to do with whether you eat certain foods with your fingers or use utensils, so leave Him out of it.
Secondly, just about every culture in the world eats at least something with their fingers. Chips in Britain are not eaten with knife and fork. Gyros in Greece are handheld, as are tacos in Mexico. A lot of people eat sushi with their fingers instead of chopsticks. Ethiopian cuisine uses flatbreads as a a means to grab food from communal plates of bean and rice dishes. And who in the world eats a sandwich with knife and fork? There are some dishes that are meant to be finger-food, and others that must be eaten with utensils.
Bottom line: I'm willing to bet there's at least one food you eat with your fingers, and if you insist on eating everything with knife and fork, I'd suggest you lighten up just a little; there are a lot of other, much more important issues in the world to obsess over.

In Africa, the Middle East, and many other cultures, there is a bowl for washing of the hands first as certain foods are eaten with the hands traditionally. In America, England and many countries where people are physically challenged, they use their feet to grip spoons. Original Americans still sit around and eat certain foods with their hands as they did in the days when the buffaloes roamed freely.
The problem with asking a general or an incorrectly constructed question is that you are asking people to answer a question based on either a partial assessment, or an improper conclusion. However the purpose of such as forum as this is to educate and teach each other in an informal atmosphere. years ago, this was common in every home. Those of us who use this forum for mental fathering try to add a little more meat. Please see this for what it is so that the learning process can be attached even to the way your future questions are asked.
be encouraged.

Many cultures around the world eat with their hands. Religion needs no mentioning. For millions of years humans have eaten with their hands-why the surprise?
It's a perfectly acceptable behavior. We are primate descendants are we not? So would it not be fitting for us to eat like a primate? Understandably we have invented tools to aid us in our tasks, but does that mean we always have to use them? Before the French brought the English the fork, all they had was the spoon and knife combination. Did that make them barbaric? Not to the English.
Its all a matter of personal preference and "cultural" not religious background.
Besides what good are "Finger Foods" if you can't enjoy them with your fingers? Loosen up a bit, and enjoy your food.

"God blessed mankind with a knife and fork so as Americans are so religous, why do they eat with their fingers?"
First problem with your question is you have to be religious to give a s**t about that part.
Second, I'm sure other cultures do it too.
