The smart car project idea was originally supported by Swiss watch manufacturer Swatch, and was nicknamed the "Swatchmobile". The name SMART stands for Swatch Mercedes ART.

Althoug you can park them front bumper to the kerb (thus saving space) you will unfortunately get a parking ticket for doing so (slow government anybody?). I do not believe there is anything smart about them - no room for driver / passenger and no room for shopping... Whats the point?

The driver is just as smart as Mr. Bean. Go ahead and try to tip over that guy driving the 3-wheeler : )

As jack said, parking them is easy, even if there is no proper spaces, but also I think the doors etc are made of plastic panels that are supposed to pop right back out again after a bit of a bump. They are also quite fuel efficient

No idea, but I saw a bright pink one the other day! Yuck! They're almost like toy cars for grown ups- cheap tacky plastics, poor build quality and you wouldn't want to be seen dead as a passenger in one! That's why the council uses them! haha!

Fuel efficient, versatile (they make gas, diesel, electric and hybrid versions), easy to maneuver and park, comfortable, easy to enter and exit (a big deal if you are transporting older passengers), and relatively inexpensive.
Pretty dang Smart, I'd say.

Not much... they remind me of those little blue disabled cars.. and they are ugly little things... i wouldnt like to be in a crash in one... they are trying to replace the proper classic mini, (not the new german one) with them.. but they will NEVER be as good as that classic car... Which has never been beaten and probably never will.........
