Sure they will. They'll just never win a World Series (nor, even get to one) with the incompetent management - both, on the field and in the front office - that they presently have. And don't forget their tight-fisted, greedy owners - The Tribune Co. They keep expanding the seating capacity of Wrigley Field to accomodate more paying customers, without putting a competitive team on the field. THAT'S pitiful.
They're scouting department and minor league system is a joke! I can't recall their minor league system producing a top-level player in....uh.....well..... since.....RON SANTO!
They play in a park that's tailored to generate instant offense (ie: the home run) - so who do they sign in the off-season? Jacque Jones and Juan Pierre! They've hit a combined total of 157 home runs the last 8 seasons. Albert Pujols has hit 167 home runs in the last 3+ seasons, himself. THAT'S pitiful.
All teams have injuries during the season - so that's no excuse, either.
They had their shot in 2003 - and blew it. It was their leaky defense, poor bullpen and bad game management (AGAIN!), not Steve Bartman, that cost them a chance to go to the World Series.
As long as die-hard Cubs fans keep filling the seats and the owners keep making money hand over fist, nothing will change.
That's PITIFUL!

The Cubs are not about winning. The die hard Cubs fans started out as people who hated the 29 Sox and evolved into the most dedicated grout of masochist on the plant. A winning season causes them to doubt everything even they existence.

Maybe if they're lucky, they'll win maybe 1 out of the next 10, 11 games. Cubs suck, and the cubs fans are idiots. 44,000 suckers paying top dollar to see one of the worst teams in the league lose again and again.
Go White Sox!!

It'll have to be a Carlos Zambrano complete game shutout with Derek Lee hitting a solo home run...
No one else can be counted on... Ramirez runs they out of an inning trying to stretch a double into a triple.... Lee doubles and is stranded in the ninth...
When do they start dealing and playing Pie? Get rid of Dusty and get a manager that can develop the young guys!

Of course they will. Even if they continue at this years pretty bad .365, that is a little over one third of their games won. So if they have 85 more games, they will win around 30 of them. Hopefully, they will improve and do better than THAT, but they will win again.
Plus, there's always next year.

It's just a slump, every team goes though them, they'll bounce back, don't worry, they'll win again, and again. Always keep the faith with your teams!!
