The ancient Sumerian legends are the oldest recorded writings on the planet. The text have been dated back to 4000 BCE and are the oldest recorded writings on the planet. It is thought by many scholars that these stories are the basis for most religions and other mythologies. Stories in most religions and mythologies can be traced back in origin to the Sumerian stories. This even includes several stories from the OT in the bible and the Babylonian, Roman, Greek, Egyptian, and Hindu mythologies.

not Greek that was made roughly 4000 yrs ago Egyptian would be around 5000 ago so thats runner up, the oldest mythology is the Mesopotamians which goes back 5500

Sumerians are the oldest known human civilization, so probably their mythology would be the oldest.

i think the oldest would be about 10-15,000 years ago -- there have been fertility gods found from that period. only problem is we don't know their mythology exactly, we just find remnants. i guess that would be the oldest. (that we actually know about i think).

i suppose greek mythology since that goes millions of years ago with the gods, but then again so does jewdaism since that goes back to the 'creation' of the universe... the seven days, you know what i am talking about
