I wish I was Mongolian now.
Umm... maybe they do it because they live in the Gobi desert. Like, not a lot of water. Maybe they do it because alcohol, like salt, is good for preserving stuff, like the Vikings used to do with mead (sorta like beer, which they drank instead of water). Maybe the Mongolian culture has a higher frequency of alcoholism (genetically this is true of some ethnicities, although it wouldn't make much sense that it would be true of them). Maybe the Russians to their northern boarder have lots of vodka. Maybe it's because vodka is versatile, since it can be made of almost anything (potatoes, grapes, wheat, etc.).
