Not all the ACME products have backfired on Wile E. Once he was flying wearing a "Batman" style outfit, wasn't paying attention and flew into a cliff. You can't blame that on ACME.
But otherwise, why ask why? That's like asking "If the Professor is supposed to be so smart, how come they never got off Gilligan's Island?"
Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Actually he did catch the road runner once.
I think he keeps buying because ACME is the only company that will sell to coyotes.

Yeah I loved it when he caught the roadrunner. He ran through that pipe and was shrunk to a mini size. Ran up on the roadrunner's foot and wrapped his arms around the leg. Held up his sign Ok I caught him, now what do you want me to do?

He ordered a computer so he could search for other manufacturers and suppliers but it was an ACME computer and it blew up when he pluged it in!
