A mommy and a daddy to hold them and love them LOTS!

Newborns don't need more than love, food, diapers and warm clothes. Once they're about 10 months or so and getting mobile, they'll need shoes and a really safe place to explore. At about 1 or so, get him or her some blocks and some plastic stacking cups.

They really don't need much. Interact with them a LOT. Talk to them, laugh with them, hold them, play with them. Young ones are easily entertained for the first few years, as long as mommy and daddy are paying a LOT of attention to them!

The only things a newborn *needs* are clothes and diapers (and a car seat if you travel by car). Everything else is optional. They also don't want anything. Two nice things to have are a rocking chair and a baby sling.

As the child gets older, she/he will need more clothes (frequently--they grow fast!!), toys, and books. It's usually a good idea to buy unbreakable dishes (babies love throwing things!!). Not much else...

Hi

Love, lots of love. An infant will need diapers, food, water and a sense of security and safeness. All of that will bring them into their toddler years when their world will begin expanding and their needs will begin changing, age 12 to 15 months. Now they will need even more interaction with people, simple toys, music, reading and plenty of down time cuddling.
