he was asked to be but with his back problems he needs the rest and to help his team win another world series

Thats ok, he can sit out, after watching Bobby Abreu last year hit all those HR's in the derby and then have a hard time when the real games came back around, Thome can sit out. Plus i don't want to see him throw out his back in a HR derby.

He'd rather sit out and not take the risk of injuring himself. Having Thome in the lineup is huge for the White Sox in the second half if they expect to go to the World Series again this year.

Jim Thome of the White Sox said he will not be participating.

"No. I'm pretty set on that," Thome said. "I think it's just best for our club not to even go there."


He doesn't want to risk any injuries.

Who knew the White Sox would be so powerful a team though? I mean... now they have the line-up that everyone wants.. and Jose Contreas is unstoppable.. GO SOX.
