There was a Baseball World Classic in March this year, and there's another in 3 years. There were 16 teams in 4 pools, countries like Italy, Venezula, Dominican Republic, Australia (my friend pitched them), Cuba, Netherlands, USA, Canada, Korea, Japan (who won), China, Chinese Thaipei, and 5 others. It was played in Florida, with the 1st round of the Asian teams played in Asia. Most of the players play in the MLB, but played for their homelands.
Someone above mentioned the World Series, which technically only has 2 competeing countries.

It isn't called the World Cup for baseball or anything, its called the World Baseball Classic. Its when different countries have there own baseball team, and........well its sorta like the World Cup except for baseball. There are 16 teams. And not most, but some of the players in MLB go to their home countries' team to play for them, not always the USA team. Its mostly on ESPN, at least it was on then. It happens every 4 years, like the World Cup.
