I am solely interested in learning more about the trucking company (training schools) that were mentioned in my question.

Werner and Knight do not run their own schools. Schneider does run schools, but beware. It is an OK company, but not a very high-paying company. There are many hidden drawbacks to their schools -- in fact ALL company schools.

For example, what if you are fired, quit, are injured, etc.? If you leave, they come after you for the full tuition plus costs and collection. It ends up costing a lot more $ and headache.

Then try and get another job, because they will not confirm with any other companies that you have been trained at their schools. Other companies typically do not accept training done by another company's school anyhow. So you are stuck with no job and owe $ on the school you went to.

Plus, you have no choice of employers. Maybe Schneider will be for you, maybe it won't. You don't know until you get there. Go to a normal school and you'll have much better choices.

Choice mans something to your wallet as well. Companies that provide their own training usually pay a lot less than those that don't. So, in the end, it costs you more because you are making less money every week than if you had gone to a good school and chosen the best company for you.

Most people who recommend "company-paid" truck driving schools don't understand how the industry works. The only person that "pays" is you: lower wages, more risk, fewer choices, more hassle. My advice: stay away from it. You'll lose in the end.

Keep in mind that these companies don't provide the training for free. They want to get their pound of flesh back from you -- and they do.

Schools like Sage or NTI are good. Stay away from short schools that finance the tuition for $7,000-$9,000. Check out the Guide I list below, too.
