I have been on both Barbados & Tobago and found them both very reasonable and such lovely people everywhere you went the local`s wanted to speak to you,not to put you under pressure or anything just very freindly. the night life on both Island`s was amazing not at all expensive & very lively.

Barbados is great. It's kinda expensive when you compare it to some of the other caribbean islands but not excessively with a strong £ you shouldn't really notice it too much. Everywhere accepts US$ too.
It is lively, you'll be able to find something to do every evening and there's places that obviously cater more for tourists whilst you can get places with a good mix of locals and tourists (i'd recommend the latter because the tourist spots will probably have a corny atmosphere). It's good for relaxing too and the beaches speak for themselves. i'd definitely recommend it.

I haven't been to the Bahamas, but been to Barbados 3 times, absolutely adored it. Sometimes it feels like going back in time a little, there seem to be more 'values' around. The locals are wonderful.
The south coast is the place to go for youngsters to have a lively holiday, the west coast is quieter with larger 'all inclusive hotels' & the sea is calmer. The east coast has rougher seas. There's something there for everyone, you just have to pick the right place.

barbados, to me, just had a better feel. a little more classy if you like.
i found it comparable to england for prices but standards, especially in top eateries, are higher.
is it lively?
copared to london, new york or thailand then NO...it is very relaxing especially in the 5* joints and just has a laid back feel but there is plenty do do at nights with lots of music and dancing.

i went to Barbados.. while parts of it where nice.. it wasn't as wonderfull as i expected..... same as Dominican republic... not as pretty as i expected.. now the Seychelles or Maldives.. thats more like it...... i spent £3000 on Dominican for family of four.. and thought Majorca was prettier for 1/2 the price...
