I need help with the right kind of lipstick for my skin and eyes. I don't usually wear lipstick for two reasons: I can never find a color that isn't too pink, too dark, or too orange; and because I am always self conscious when I am wearing it around, because I am afraid the color doesn't look right. I have extremely fair skin, and when I say extremely, let me expand on that: Many make-up companies don't make foundations light enough for me.
My lips and my eyes are my best facial features, and I have my eyes taken care of. I have always heard that you shouldn't do bold on both, you know either bold eyes of bold lips, but not both. I would prefer bold on my eyes and lighter more subtle on my lips. My hair is a medium auburn brown with reddish gold undertones. I have greenish blue eyes that are more blue towards the center and get more forrest green the further out you go.
Any advice anyone could lend on the subject would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I would suggest a transparent lip color. If you can see through the lip color it does not seem as bold.-You also mentioned you did not usually wear lipstick...Another reason to go sheer. Shades of berry & mauve are fun. I'm not going to advise you to go to your local department store makeup counter, because I'm assuming you wouldn't have asked if you had the extra bucks to do that. Do you have Walgreen's where you live? They are pretty helpful.

Yep, I'm with the other people that answered. Go to a dept. store makeup counter and let a professional make-up person try makeup on you. You appear to have a fair complexion, and depending on what color undertones your skin has, they will select a foundation base that is flattering to your skin tone.
I really like Estee Lauder and Lancome foundations. However, L'Oreal cosmetics also makes some very good foundations that are much less costly - around $10-$12 a bottle.
Experiment with several diffferent brands and you'll find one that you like best.
I have blue green eyes, and depending on the day, my mood, and what I'm wearing, different colors look better than others. I typically wear black eyeliner with another color under it. Some days a navy blue eyeliner and pink eyeshadow look great. Other days I wear a dark brown liner with a purple eyeshadow. And sometimes I wear teal eyeliner. My eyes some days look more gray than blue-green. I think that's called "cat eyes".

I'd recommend going to a well-established department store or cosmetics boutique. These loctions will typically, for free, help you with sampling the right colors and blends for your skin. You already have a rough idea what YOU like.

Take a trusted friend with you... heck, go from store to store (pack wipes with you!) and make a day of it. Even bring a digital camera with you so that you can figure out what works and what doesn't.

Enjoy!

go to any makeup counter at a department store, i suggest Bobbi brown, and they will find a suitable color for you. you might also want to try a lip stain, which stays on longer and has just a hint of color, Vincent longo does nice ones, or a lipgloss. it might look brown in the bottle but trish mcevoy does an awsome lipgloss called sundance that looks beautiful on any skin tone. chanel also does good lipglosses.

i would suggest that since you have such fair skin then you might want to go with a long lasting lip gloss instead, for ex. try the Mary-Kate balm'n gloss. its a very light colored lipstick with a brown/pink color of lip gloss to match

good luck
