Maybe he should get Kayne West's opinion on this. Tick tock tick tock. 5 minutes... 5 minutes to curtain.

Bono is serious. He just does not have all of the answers. Poverty can be solved by a little country like the US or the UK. All that has to be done is for the people to work together and show a little respect, and stop stealing.

How much $ is Bono and his stinking rich rock star ban mates giving? I work to jobs to try and get rid of my debt. How come Bono and all the rich liberals of the world are not writing me checks.
One more thing, if the US were to go help any more countries out with there problems. We would be looked at as empiricist people that want to get into everyone life's.
Apparently everybody thinks we should have never gone into Iraq. Perhaps he should have never crossed the pacfie during WWII. Of course Hitler might have total control over Europe had we not gotten involved.
I could go on and on. But my point is this every time the us tries to do something to help the people of other nations they do nothing but spit in our face and our own media turns against it's own administration. So Mr. Bono sir you and the millions upon millions you and your mates make selling concert tickets and Cd's should all be donated to the impoverished people of the world.

No, it's a publicity stunt. It gets him in the papers, on the television, and into government offices.
End Poverty? Start with birth control. The ecosystem(s) of some areas of the world simply can't support the massive numbers of people. Reducing poverty likely would lead to reduced infant mortality - leading to more hungry adults.
Remember Live Aid? Band-Aid? Ethiopa? What was the result? Ah, yes, a short-term fix that ultimately was worse than it was before. If we don't have a sustainable mechanism for producing food, disposing of waste, and decreasing the population - it's doomed from the start.

America has billions of dollars in food and resources, unfortunately we can't give it to those in poverty because if we give them free food, they don't buy from their local farmers and the local farmers become bankrupt, shutting down the farming, which is worse than the original problem. Another problem is that many of these countries have been saddled with ridiculous loans, most of which went to leaders who may or may not have helped the country. Just the interest on these loans alone keep the countries from attempting things like health care, electricity, and infrastructure. I teach economics and it is sad to explain the world conditions to American students, but most just leave when the hour is up, turn the T-Pain back up on their Ipod and walk off. I can only break through to a few but those few make it worth it.

Noblesse oblige. There is a quote I read which says "our greatest duty is to be good ancestors." I firmly believe this. I'd imagine that Bono hopes that the UK and US don't have to solve the poverty problem on their own. Anyone of any nationality, in government or not, however powerful, with any compassion should feel obliged to try to help solve this problem. Noblesse oblige.

Bono expects all the world leaders to help solve the poverty problem. He also expects the victims of poverty to help themselves with aid, trade, and for them to have the third world debts taken away, so they can start educating themselves, start building clinics, and help themselves, with the help of all people in The One campaign and the other campaigns, a global outreach of peoples voices, signatures, Live Aid concerts, and he himself does missionary work in Africa. All people can contribute in some way. Even if they are too poor to make donations, there are all kinds of contributions people can make.

US and UK do not have to solve the poverty problem on their own. However, imagine, in theory, if those of us in the industrialized world give up only $3 a year, no one in the world can go to bed hungry, all can have clean drinking water and receive decent-basic medical care.

Yes he is seriously asking what can be done about poverty but no he does not expect it to lie in the hands of the US and the UK only. This is a world problem that needs a world solution.

Bono is serious but unfortuneately I don't think he is being realistic. I don't want to quote the bible but even without it, I think many will agree "the poor will always be with us". And that is because man's greed and man's laziness contribute to poverty. All of us have both characteristics within us at varying levels and times and that contributes to the problem.
