about Microsoft Word and Works.He wants to make a spreadsheet but cannot get things to do what he wants it to do.Numbers disappear,columns do not stay as he wants etc.Looking at the help is not helping.Does anyone know of anything he could look at online to show him how to do these things.

Excel is definitely THE place to do complex spreadsheets. However it's only available to you IF you've got the entire Office sutie, and did not purchase Word and/or Works seperately. You DO, however, have rudimantary ability to put simple spreadsheet-like tables in a Word document, though. Here are a few tutorials...

For spreadsheets, I'd use Excel personally. It's a much better program for making spreadsheets while having lots of options and scaleability.

Agree, Excel IS the spreadsheet program. If you do not have it search download.com for spreadsheet programs there are others out there. But seeing the you have Word you should have Excel.

Leardirect offer some good online tutorials on spreadsheets and word, allthough you may have to pay for them.
