Sometimes telling a 'white lie' is better than telling the blunt truth.

for example if your mate asks do i look fat? they may well do, but to maintain harmony and good relationships -- it may be better to reply with a simple 'no'.

Boy, I don't. If you lie about small things, you'll lie about the bigger things also. Then you have to lie to cover a lie and so on.
Eventually, all those lies are going to catch up with you. You'll get caught and embarrassed, especially if you really care about someone special or something that has special meaning to you.
You just can't live a lie. What kind of life or happiness is that.
The stress in following one lie after another; good grief, you can't remember all the lies and keep covering over with more lies. What a nightmare.

Because the small things in life mean more to people and I guss lieing about that can make it all a breeze for someone. But lieing about the BIG things in life are just as bad, but something we dont notice because Big things happen once in a while.

Are world is known for its decieving and lieing...the small things could be worth a dime for some people...

Well, its better than lying about the important things.

I think that people lie about the small stuff because it really doesn't matter that much. They figure at the time when they lie, usually its to make them self look better, and they figure that the person they were lying to will eventually forget what they said before they mention the same topic again.

It is the myth of the "White Lie" - that if the issue isn't really that important it's okay to lie about it. You don't feel as guilty about your lies if you can justify them this way. However, the truth is the only way to truly keep yourself out of trouble.

BECAUSE SUBCONSIOUSLY THEY GET A CONFIEDENCE THAT THEY HAVE GOT A VICTORY OVER THE OTHER PERSON. Those persons who lack a self esteem ,who want themselves to be proven to them wil do lie about small things. They satisfy thier own consiousness saying they do it for fun , they have no way out etc . . .

Because they are scared of the truth. They'd rather lie than to be brave and face the music.

Lying about the small things sometimes is the polite thing to do. "Do you think I made the wrong choice?", your friend tearfully asks after she gave up her baby for adoption. You say "No", not because that is what you feel, but that is what your friend needs to hear.

Who wants to tell the truth all the time? Seriously, many people consider this harmless and many people can't help themselves.
