I agree with the first two answers. Currently the middle class and lower class are bearing the brunt of the taxes. The rich get almost all their taxes back, but we don't. Be nice. Share. Besides, right now the country is deep in debt because of a President rich people elected. Donate some money to your old boy so he doesn't increase the national debt further.
If you work hard and make it, then you were helped at some point along the way (public education comes from taxes, libraries are stocked through taxes, etc.) if you "made" it you have a duty to help others who want to do the same.

Should the poor be taxed more for not making as much? The average hard working person pays far more in taxes then those who work 1/2 days a few times a month and spend the rest of their time on the golf course

I agree. The whole idea of the rich getting tax breaks is crazy. I take every break/shelter I can get and still pay 40% in taxes. I have a freind who actually gets more money back in taxes then she pays...how is that fair? The whole Idea of some people being less fortunate is crazy..Are they saying I am fortunate..ie..lucky..to be where I am today? That is crap and offensive that people think the succesful are fortunate. Maybe we didnt have a baby at 17. Maybe we went to school and college and earned better jobs. Maybe when we got that job we stayed for 16 hour days to improve our position. Taxing more to those who have EARNED where they are is a load of crap. Bring on a flat tax and let everyone pay the same percentage. The succesful ones will still pay more just based on the math.

I think the rich population should pay all the taxes... middle class citizens are way over taxed. Most cannot afford to live on what they earn.. terrible! The rich got all the money, why should we pay most of the taxes? So unfair.

Here is a clue, you are greedy, while being taxed more you are still pocketing more and can afford to pay the higher tax. It is the right thing to do. I pay my taxes, I do not complain on how much. I do complain on how they throw it away, like on a stupid war in a country that we have no business in.

Yes you should be taxed more.
All rich people do charitable contributions but argue about paying higher taxes. Nobody every thanks them for paying taxes that is why they hate it.
Maybe we should have a tax doner list so people like Donald Trump could get their glory and Thank You.
What are we really thanking them for. Thank you for taking advantage of me and ripping me off. Oh also donating $100 to save the starving fund.

No. Usually people who support the idea think that if you make more money you were either lucky or you exploited others. Higher tax rates would be the punishment for that "crime". The Fair Tax is the answer. www.fairtax.org

Because taxes are the rent you pay for your space on this Earth. If you and your stuff takes up a lot of square acreage, you should pay a higher rate.
