Yes - it's crazy. The need/urge to be politically correct maddens me!

I don't know why they have to. Maybe there is some bacteria on your skin that could cause the lethal injection to not work fast enough or something. But really I think doctors/nurses are so used to always sanatizing an area before they give an injection that they just have the habit and forget that it's not going to make a difference.

For the same reason the person is executed with two injections, the first one puts him/her to sleep so that no unnecessary pain/anxiety is endured by the condemned, the second one is a muscle relaxer that eventually relaxes his heart so much that it stops beating. We attempt to prevent unnecessary suffering not only for the sake of the person being executed, but because being a humane society we want to know that although we have chosen to protect ourselves from this person by permanently removing him/her from our midst, we have done so with the utmost care and that we did not lose sight of our morals.

Talking about the US not some other shitty country"
Since you used the words 'some other' it means that the first country mentioned must also share the same properties. I don't think the US is shitty, please elaborate on why would you say the US is a "shitty country"

I don't see this as representative of the country, especially since there's a good reason for it.
The arm of the condemned is swabbed with alcohol before the needle is inserted. Along with its antiseptic use, the alcohol also causes the blood vessels to rise to the skin's surface, making it easier to insert the needle. [1] The needles and equipment used are also sterilized. One reason for this is because the needles are standard medical products that are sterilized during manufacturing. Also, there is a chance that the prisoner could receive a stay of execution after the needles have been inserted as happened in the case of James Autry in October 1983 (he was executed eventually on 14 March 1984). Finally, it would also be a hazard for those handling unsterile equipment.
It was a good question, though. Now we both learned something.

Yes.. The Americans are such weird people.. sanitizing the execution room before a person is being executed. ONLY in America would such a stupid thing be done.. That is not the only thing as there are literally thousands of other stupid, childish actions that are ONLY in America.

I personally think the death row should be shortened to a maxium of 8 years. We need to stop wasting money on people who have committed terrible crimes.

I think it's for the same reason they give them a last meal: no matter what the prisoner did, you treat him/her like a human being until the end.
