There is no definate age, but most say when you are sexually active, 21 or have any concerns or questions. It may hurt a little, but more than pain you will feel pressure and some discomfort. It also depends on who you go see. I like my doctor a whole lot and she makes thing so much easier for me like talking to me about work and stuff. Two important things: make sure you are comfortable with the doctor and if you have any unusual pain or anything go ASAP.

I had my first one when i was 15. Age is not really a determining factor. Before you become sexually active, like when you go to the doctor to begin birth control. It does not hurt.

I believe it is 3 years after becoming sexually active, or 21. Whichever comes first. Hope that helps!

I was always told by my Dr:
Get one when you become sexually active
or
When you turn 18.
I've had one done and it doesn't hurt.
