I have a goldfish with one black eye. It covers the whole eye but the other eye is ok.
Is it damaged or infected?
Is it contagious for other fish?
Can it b treated?

My calico oranda has 2 black eyes and this is perfectly natural. If the color is recent, try to determine if his/her behviour is different. Does it seek food as well as it did previously? I've never heard of a disease that causes this symptom, but I'm not an authority on fish diseases. Hope he's ok. :)

I used to have the same problem as U do with Ur fish. It might be some dizziness. It's when U refresh or change water for the fish, but they can't react to the new environment immediately. The eyes always turn back to normal after a few hours or days. I don't think U should worry about that too much. However, if U feel it's still contagious for other fish, then U better separate Ur patient, just in case.

It depends on how long he has had it for. I had an angel fish and when he started to bite the heads off my neon tetras and the fins off the other fish i decided to move him to a tank on his own. When we tried to catch him in the net he kept swimming into the tank and ended up with a blue nose.

It sounds like a pirate goldfish.

As long as its been like that since you got him then it is most likely perfectly fine and just the color of his eye. A lot of calico's have eyes like that but sometimes non calico's have eyes like that too.

it depends on the breed of your goldfish.
if you are worried you would do best to consult a fish shop who know what they are talking about.
