So many of the questions are written in very poor, hard to understand English. Are a majority of the users second -language English users? Or are they just elemenary school dropouts?

I guess my question sounds critical of those who struggle with the English language, and that wasn't my intent. I am just curious whether the akwardly worded questions come from those who are learning, or if the users here just don't read what they've written.

English is my second language and in my opinion my questions aren't in poor English. People just don't read their question over and don't use spell check. But why are you criticizing people who have learned English? I have gone to my country that is Spanish speaking and some of my friends over there use better grammar then people here in the U.S. Blame the school system, I mean there are H.S. seniors that don't know how to spell or they don't even know their times table, so it has nothing to do with whether we learned English. I blame IM too, people have too many abbreviations. Not everyone knows what all the abbreviations stand for. I know I don't know them all. People have to choose to write correctly.

People are lazy sometimes and don't take the time to review. It's just society doesn't demand us to speak correctly, so we use slang and poor English, it's just how it is.

Oh and to answer your question: I think it's neither. I think it's lazy people that don't want to write right.

My best guess is that Yahoo is worldwide so there could quite possibly be jillions of ESL users.

As to the rampant grammar & spelling problems here, that seems to require paying attention to education. Or it could be due to just typing too fast or just not caring. Some folks even seem to think it's cool to do that. I find it hard to read & lots of it is immature too, so I tend to ignore those posts.

I totally agree with you -- I posted a question like that last week "Y dew kidz rite like uneducated peeple, iz bein stoopid kool?" (or something like that) Wish I knew the answer, because it is very annoying and hard to read. Either our schools are failing us, or they are just lazy.
