During the song, run your finger lightly arond the circle and it wil increase/decresae depending on which way you move it.

yes, definatly. i have an iPod nano and i've noticed that with different types of headphones also comes a variety of volume. check out the apple website to find out which one would work best for the nano.

Well, i have read numerous articles about how the volume on the iPods are causing people to go deaf (i can believe that because I know I am...) but the center circle is the volume you take your finger and move around in that circle (its that motion kind of thing) go clockwise to go up in volume and counterclockwise to decrease in volume.

It probably has to do w/ the apple earphones...I HATE them...they don't fit in my ears all the way so I can't really hear the music...I bought some Sony headphones and it's WAY better.

when listening to the music, roll the dial to the right and probably get new headphones from apple, those are the best!
