There are groups out there that are helping rebuild the city. Such as habitat for humanity, Group WorkCamp, and other different religious groups are down helping out. Check out the Habitat for Humanity website it should provide you with a way to contact your local Habitat for Humanity chapter.

Also there are plenty of people who do not have the opportunity to come back and help with the rebuilding process. When I went down in December I worked on two houses that the owners (who were in remission from cancer and had severe asthma)were not allowed near the house because of the toxins and mold in the air. They were grateful for the fact that there were people in this country who cared enough about getting places back up and running.

Most of these people cannot afford to be travelling back and forth from Houston or from any other place they were evacuated from. So any help from anywhere is always appreciated.

Why? Those who were devastated by Katrina moved away. If they love their city so much why don't they go back and help with the reconstruction? Why does the government have to rebuild New Orleans with our taxpayer money? Why would the world want to help us?
