I think it contributes to a FALSE sense of self-esteem.
I think you are looking at this the wrong way and so is your spouse. YOUR A TEAM and not one making the decisions over another. You should be deciding TOGETHER and not fighting about who gets to decide.

It should not be but mostly it happens specially if the other party makes wrong decisions
